Phlogopite is mainly used in ceramics and special refractory products, etc.
Mica is a general term for a very important type of layered silicate minerals. Its most notable feature is having perfect flaky cleavage, which allows it to be easily peeled into elastic, thin and tough sheets one by one.
Main Characteristics
1. Perfect flaky cleavage: This is the most iconic characteristic of mica. Due to its layered crystal structure, the bonding force between layers is weak, so it is easy to split into thin sheets when stressed.
2. Elasticity and toughness: The peeled mica sheets have good elasticity, can be bent, and can partially return to their original shape after bending, and are not easy to break.
3. Insulation: Mica is an excellent electrical insulator and is resistant to high temperatures. This characteristic makes it irreplaceable in the electronics and electrical industry.
4. High temperature resistance: Mica has a high melting point (above about 1200℃) and can maintain its physical and chemical properties stable at high temperatures.
5. Chemical stability: Mica has strong resistance to acids and alkalis and is relatively stable in chemical properties.
6. Optical properties: Most mica sheets are tran***rent and have a glassy luster or pearly luster.
